My wife beats me.

So, I have a confession to make. I enjoy perusing the pages of the classifieds at KSL.com and maybe a little over a month ago, I made a great investment. An investment gone bad. I purchased a Sportcraft foosball table from a guy up in Sandy who said that his grandkids watch too much television and don't care to play games so his nice, barely used foosball table needed to be gone. It was taking up too much space.
We thought that it would be more for our visitors and 'take up space' in the basement that we inhabit, but it has quickly become our favorite (or least favorite, for me) pastime at home. We nearly play once a day at least and often play twice, many times in an intense 3 game series, winner being the first to score 10 goals.
Well, this is the confession part. MY WIFE BEATS ME. Literally beats the tar out of me. I am thinking of taking lessons because it irks me that she is consistently beating me. I think that I have only won once out of the last 20 or so contests. Embarassing. The only solace that I take is that I know she wouldn't beat me in 1-on-1 basketball. I know she couldn't strike me out if she tried, and I am quite confident that I would beat her at racquetball! I seriously need to take foosball lessons. Do any of you know of any trainers?
My cussing problem becomes more and more apparent during our nightly matches and I am tired of the "red guys". I am ready to admit that my disdain for all things red is likely what creates the bad karma that leads to loss after loss after loss! For now on, I get the "blue guys". I need to stop cussing.

Something in the Wall

This week I thought that we had a huge mouse in the wall of one of the bedrooms in our basement. The mouse (or what I thought was the mouse) would scratch loudly on the wall and it drove my dog Zoe CRAZY! Zoe was on constant alert for the wall. As soon as she would hear the faintest sound come from the wall she would bark, growl and scratch at the wall. This went on for nearly 2 days. It was easy to tell that whatever it was in that wall was stuck and it wanted to get out! At times the noise coming from the wall was very loud. I had even made comments that maybe it was a rat or a raccoon. JP thought it could be a dog that was dwarfed into a mouse. It was making more noise than just your average house mice would make.

Last night after work JP and I were having a friendly game of Foosball when Zoe came running frantically into the room and she was chasing a BIRD! Yes, that is correct, there was a bird flying in our basement! Now this was not a little sparrow or parakeet but a large black bird(it was at least 8 inches tall which seems huge in a room with a 7 foot ceiling). I never thought that I was afraid of birds, but I found out last night that I do have a slight fear of them when they are flying at my head in an enclosed area. As soon as I saw the bird I hit the floor and hid under the Foosball table and began yelling at JP to get the bird out! Being the brave man that he is, JP did manage to get the bird to fly safely out the window.

The bird ended up being what we thought was the mouse. Somehow this bird crawled into the eves of the house and found its way to the basement bedroom. The poor thing was traumatized and I was extremely happy to see it fly out of the window. It looks like JP and I have a little project for the weekend...find out how the bird got into the house.

The happiest place on earth!

A few weeks ago JP and I were lucky enough to take a vacation with my sister Jennifer, her husband and their 3 kids; Whitney, Stockton and Tyson. Friday afternoon the 7 of us piled into the Eggetts mini-van and headed off to sunny California where we spent 6 unforgettable days at Disneyland and a few wonderful hours at the beach!

Things I LOVED about our trip (with a few pictures):

-Spending a week away with some of my favorite people on earth!

-The beach! Nothing beats a sunny day of building sand castles, flying kites, making mermaids/mermans and just plain ol' relaxing in the sun!

-Tyson’s new found fondness of JP. The two of them really bonded on the trip, it was very cuteJ

-Personalized Mickey ears. The photos say it all!

-Sreamin’ California. What a great rollercoaster!
-Fastpass
-Sleeping in. No need to get to Disneyland early when you have the 5 day hopper!
-Warm weather with no snow
-Short line/no lines at Disneyland and California Adventure
-Frozen lemonade & Churos

Thank you Eggetts for joining us on our last minute adventure. It would not have been the same with out you!
