I am sure that most of you already know that JP is the new head baseball coach at Mountain View High School. He landed the job about a month ago. I could not be more happy for him and this new endeavor! JP's true calling in life is to coach and teach high school and now he will be doing exactly that. I am so proud of JP and look forward to many very successful seasons of Mountain View Baseball.
Wednesday night the school hosted a "Meet the Coach" BBQ where all of the boys interested in playing baseball and their parents could come and meet the coach. At this little BBQ I had a few harsh realizations come to me.
1st--I am now a coaches wife. I do not know all that this entails but I am sure I will find out soon enough. Many people have asked me "Do you have any idea what you are getting yourself into?" My response to that would be yes! I am getting into having a husband that LOVES his profession! I consider myself extremly lucky for this one.
2nd--My future is going to consist of high school boys. I am sure that many night and weekends will also revolve around high school boys. I have not decided if this is a good thing or a bad thing yet and I am sure I will find out soon enough! The good thing is that the boys seem to be really good kids. If they are good kids how can it be all that bad...right?
3rd--Can I really be a BRUIN??? This is think will be the toughest for me to overcome. My life history consists of generation after generation of Caveman! I have known the words to the American Fork Caveman's school song for as long as I can remember and my family still sings it from time to time. I have never known life outside of being a Caveman. Am I ever going to be able to let go of all the Caveman history and become a Bruin? JP has done an amazing job at letting go of the Orem Tiger in him and transforming to a Bruin, I can only hope that I learn from him and eventually do the same thing. I will alway support JP and cheer for his team (unless they are playing American Fork), but only time will tell if I will ever be able to truly call myself a Bruin.
Wish me luck!

That's awesome. Congrats on the new job. When the heck are we going to get together?!?!???
I totally dig the new background. Nice job, Cath :) Now get to work and stop blogging!!!
It really is shocking-Jon the Bruin. My best friend in high school went to Mountain View, and every time she came over, someone would start sniffing and say "what is that smell? Is there a Poo-in in the house?"
I think you'll be a wonderful coach's wife! We'll have to get you a seriously warm maroon and gold coat, though. The worst part about spring sports in Utah is that they generally begin before Spring does. Brrr! Indoor baseball, anyone?
hey it is your favorite niece j.p and cathy
This is great Cathy! I am so happy for you and your hubby.. PS randomly when Brandon and I are driving in the car I will burst out in the AF fight song (he's from St George) it bugs the crap outta him, but I think I am funny :) Anyway, don't forget the song and pride..just learn the new one Good luck :)
